STAFF DIRECTORY:
Welcome to the Capital Journal’s Web site, the area’s most comprehensive site for news and information for the Central South Dakota region.
We have designed this Web site based on reader’s input and for those visitors wishing to find out more about the Central South Dakota area, including Pierre, the capital city.
The Capital Journal has been the official printed record of Hughes and Stanley counties since 1881 and currently has 10,750 daily readers. We publish Monday through Friday mornings, except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
We are a dedicated group of newspaper professionals comprised of local journalists, press and production professionals, sales associates and news carriers, all committed to delivering a quality community newspaper to our readers each morning. We strive to provide the most up-to-date information available in the communities we serve.
Each Wednesday, we also publish the Reminder Plus which has nearly 40,000 readers. This publication is available free of charge.
In 2006, the Capital Journal went through a major redesign, including press upgrades and significant capital improvements, following its purchase by Wick Communications in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
Wick Communications is a group of family-owned community newspapers with 32 newspapers and 23 specialty publications in 13 states.
In 2008, the Capital Journal won the South Dakota Newspaper Association's prestigious “General Excellence” award, as judged independently by the Nevada Press Association. This is South Dakota’s most distinguished classification for newspapers with fewer than 16,000 in daily circulation.
Please take a look around our Web site and learn more about our fascinating, historic area
Enjoy the Capital Journal.
